Below is a photo that I took at Maya bay which is a little protected island off of Koh Phi Phi. Maya bay was the location for the film that starred ‘my husband’ *cough* *cough* Leonardo Dicaprio. I had spent the afternoon site seeing around this amazing island and as the sun was setting, we all hopped back onto a boat and gently floated to the mouth of the island to watch the sun set behind the Thai clouds. Perfect setting for a photo. Snap...
Now this painting is pretty textured but not as much as the blue piece I posted a while back. It was painted in a similar way using a sponge but this was just with an everyday washing up sponge. As I am a bit of a cheap skate, I do generally enjoy rummaging around my mums cupboards looking for household crap that I could borrow to help create texture with my art. I say 'borrow', my mum says 'destroy and never give back and you need to buy me a new one blah blah blah'. She's dramatic and it's all in the name of art. To be fair, after I borrowed/stole/destroyed her kitchen sponge I showed her this piece and she did really like it. So it was all water under the bridge in the end. i'm back in her good books. Phew!
