After staring at my dust engulfed library card, I realised the time and rushed out the door to get the train to work. The Colchester to London Liverpool street commute really is soul destroying experience especially if your surrounded by spluttering bad breathed commuters who feel the need to elbow you in your side every time they flick the pages of the Metro newspaper. Whilst trying to shield my nose from the smell of the early morning commute, I would find myself gazing out the window longing for fresh air. The one thing that is nice about the train journey from Colchester to London, is that the line is surrounded by field after field after field. Now, fields don't exactly get my heart racing but now and then as we zoom past at a million miles an hour, we would zip past a lavender field. They always did put a smile on my face and completely distracted me from the commuter capsule that I was chained to. Something to do with vibrant purple that you don't usually get to see whilst on a train to the concrete jungle. That is pretty much how the idea for the below came to be. And look, the library card worked a treat on those straight lines. Look at those stems! Pretty chuffed with that. What's also good is that a library card is also quite bendy so you can, whilst holding the card, bend it slightly to add a bit of curve to the stems to make them look a bit more realistic.
